The remains of this cool old building stand on the edge of Stoneburg. Anyone know the story behind this building?
I rec’d the following information from Barbara Winingham:
the two story service station was built by Harry Walker in the 1930’s. In the 1940’s Bill Roland and family lived there. Wade Roland’s dad…Mike Roland’s grandfather. The families all lived upstairs on the second floor. In the 1950’s a Mr. Tar( or Tarr) lived there.
The green glass rocks in the building came from the old Ball Jar glass company in Wichita Falls. The rock house in Nocona where the Sonic is now had a lot of this glass in it. Also as this building is it had a double rock walls.
